Dear friends! During November, many important for the CryptOcean project events took place, which we present to you in our digest.

In the near future, an entry for testing the service will be open.

Integration of CRON and Ethereum coins in my.bitchange.online service

As previously announced, the CRON coin was integrated into my.bitchange.online service. Now users have the opportunity to exchange cryptocurrencies for fiat and deposit/withdraw funds in the service using Bitcoin, Ethereum and CRON. In the near future, we also plan to connect other popular cryptocurrencies to the service.

Listing of the CRON coin on the Velvet exchange

In November, Velvet Exchange listed CRON coins.
Currently, there are CRON/USD and CRON/EUR trading pairs available on the exchange.
Velvet Exchange is a licensed regulated digital platform that provides its customers with all the tools and functions for trading — a liquid platform with low commissions, on which a huge domestic sector is built to expand business opportunities and connections. The Velvet Cryptocurrency Exchange includes a legally licensed exchange of cryptocurrencies for fiat and a virtual currency wallet service in Estonia. In addition, Velvet Exchange has a multi-purpose Stored Value Facilities (SVF) license in Singapore (similar to EMI in Europe) and may provide other related financial services in the Asian region.
Velvet uses low fees for deposit/withdraw and trading: both companies and private traders can deposit euros with a commission of 0% and withdraw with a commission of 0.5% + 5 EUR. At the same time, the commission fee decreases as trading volumes increase and can decrease to 0% for the producer and 0.001% for the buyer.

First CryptOcean Cryptocards Transactions

The first lucky ones participating in the CryptOcean test program have already received a limited series of plastic cards and pay with them in stores, on the Internet and even withdraw cash from ATMs! We successfully tested the CryptOcean card and appreciated all its advantages, so did our Asian clients at a conference in Malaysia. Until December 2, we plan to launch mass issues of cards, as well as finalize an algorithm that will allow CryptOcean users to directly issue a card from Bitchange’s personal wallet, replenish its balance and perform any other service operations.
You can pre-order the CryptOcean card here: https://preorder.cryptocean.io

National Assembly Of South Korea Approves A New Amendment, Looses Conditions For Virtual Currency Exchanges To RunThe government affairs committee of the National Assembly of South Korea has just approved the amendment of the Act on Reporting and Use of Specified Financial Transaction Information, which covers the content of loosing the permissive conditions that are needed for virtual currency exchanges to operate in the country. Furthermore, the amendment also gives the green light to commercial banks, allowing them to provide bank account services to virtual currency exchanges. Currently, the commercial banks only provide the above-mentioned services to four virtual currency exchanges, namely Bithumb, UPbit, Korbit, and CoinOne. That is to say, exchanges which meet the requirements of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) under the Financial Services Commission (FSC) will be able to provide clients with the legal fiat-to-crypto transactions. The approval of amendment means that the virtual currency industry, which has been in the “gray zone,” will be covered by the regulations. The amendment defines the virtual currency as a virtual asset, and the virtual currency exchange is defined as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP). In addition, representatives of operating companies must report to the FIU, while undeclared providers will be punished in accordance with the law.
FATF Releases ‘Guidance For A Risk-Based Approach To Virtual Assets And Virtual Asset Service Providers’The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) released the “Guidance for a Risk-Based Approach to Virtual Assets and Virtual Asset Service Providers.” This guidance will help countries and virtual asset service providers understand their anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing obligations, and effectively implement the FATF’s requirements as they apply to this sector.

German Government: Cryptos Are Not Allowed To Compete With Fiat CurrencyAccording to Xinhua News Agency, the German federal government issued a press release on Nov 20, stating that the government cabinet proposed at a digital conference held recently that it would not allow cryptocurrencies to compete with the national fiat currency.According to the press release, the emergence of Bitcoin triggered a wave of innovation in cryptocurrencies. The U.S.-based Facebook also announced the launch of the cryptocurrency Libra this year. After in-depth discussions within the cabinet, it is believed that cryptocurrencies such as Libra may undermine the status of banking and credit industries. Such currencies essentially provide banking services, but they are not banks, it said.

In morning, we discussed the chances of a breakdown in bitcoin below the $8,000 support area against the US Dollar. BTC made an attempt correct above the $8,150 resistance, but it failed to gain traction and remained well below the 100 hourly simple moving average.
As a result, there was another bearish break below the $8,050 support. Moreover, morning’s bearish flag pattern was breached with support near $8,080 on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair.
Finally, the price declined below the $8,000 support and the last swing low. A new monthly low was formed near $7,828 and the price is currently correcting higher.
An immediate resistance for bitcoin is near the $7,920 level. It represents the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $8,221 high to $7,828 low. The first key resistance on the upside is near the $8,000 level (the recent breakdown support).

BTC — BTC fell briefly yesterday, rebounding after falling to $8368 at the lowest level and falling after hitting $8620 at the highest level. In terms of capital flow, the net inflow in 24 hours was 3 billion yuan, a significant increase over the previous day.On the 4-hour K-line, the slope of the downward trend rate is slowing down, the trading volume continues to shrink, and the volatility has also dropped to a new low in recent years. At this stage, the disk support and pressure are weak, only part of the energy is needed, and it is easy to pull up. It is not difficult to break through the pressure of 8600 and 8800 dollars, and 9000 dollars is the strong pressure level. But it doesn’t make much sense to pull it up. The market information hasn’t been restored. The overall trend is roughly between $8400 and $8600.In terms of operation, the spot continues to hold, while the futures are not recommended for operation.

This past week, there was a sharp rally in bitcoin above the $7,500 and $8,000 resistances against the US Dollar. BTC even surged above the $9,500 and $10,000 levels before correcting lower.
Later, the price corrected below the $9,500 support and the $9,000 pivot zone. However, the decline was contained below $9,000 and the price remained well above the 100 hourly simple moving average.
A low was formed near $8,896 and bitcoin started a fresh increase. It broke the $9,000 and $9,200 resistance levels. Moreover, there was a break above the 50% Fib retracement level of the downward correction from the $10,578 high to $8,896 low.
However, the price seems to be facing a strong resistance near $9,850 and $9,900. Besides, the 61.8% Fib retracement level of the downward correction from the $10,578 high to $8,896 low prevented any further upsides.

Malaysia To Impose Restrictions On Cash Transactions The Malaysian government plans to impose restrictions on cash transactions reports local media platform The Star. According to the publication, the move is part of efforts to combat money laundering in the country. Commenting on the plan, Datuk Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, the deputy governor of Malaysia’s Central Bank Negara (BNM), remarked: “This is to address the abuse of physical cash used for illicit activities.” Malaysian economist, Barjoyai Bardai believes the proposed cash transaction limit in the country could boost digital currency adoption.
EU Is Working On ECB Digital Currency With Possible Progress Next Year According to Reuters, progress on the feasibility of a digital currency backed by the European Central Bank could be made in the coming months, senior officials said on Nov 8, cautioning that the project faced challenges and was for the long term.
Tunisia Issues Central Bank Digital Currency On Nov 9, the TASS news agency reported that the Central Bank of Tunisia was to be the first to release a digital currency. The ‘E-dinar’ was officially launched in the test form at the Forex Club of Tunisia, with a symbolic transfer of one dinar between the head of the central bank, Marouane El Abassi, and a representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading down nearly 5% at its current price of $8,850, which marks a notable drop from its 24-hour highs of $9,300.
Prior to today’s drop, Bitcoin has been caught in a relatively tight trading range between $9,000 and $9,500 for a couple of weeks, and neither bulls nor bears had been able to incur enough strength to push the crypto out of this trading range until early this morning when bears forced it below its lower range boundary at $9,000.
In the time since its drop, BTC has shown no sign of slowing its decent, as it continued to slowly grind lower as the morning dragged on.

An Eventful Year: Over 75 days of NEO Meetups, Workshops and Hackathons in 2018

NEO has been very busy this year. In addition to the core development progress, we’ve seen a level of community building/outreach that no other project in blockchain can seem to match. I thought it would be cool to look back on all the events and hackathons that NEO hosted or supported over the course of this year.
It should be noted that I am not including any large-scale blockchain conferences (other than the NEO DevCon), no matter how notable. Any project leader can show up to an event and hold a few interviews, or offer a few sound bites in a speech. This is a post about the NEO team’s tangible efforts to finance and encourage decentralized community development by hosting dedicated NEO workshops and meetups around the world. To this end, I have attempted (no promises, this was a lot of data to go through) to omit all events without direct support/representatives from the NEO core team (sorry Dylan, I’ll buy you a beer at DevCon!)
I think this is a huge indicator as to the motives of the core NEO team and is something far too few people know about. There is still this ridiculous notion floating around that NEO is reliant on the Chinese government to succeed, despite the massive global community that has been built to support the platform’s long-term success.
Two things to note before the list. Firstly, a lot of these events would not have been possible without the hard work of various NEO dApp project/dev community leaders and other community members. By no means do I wish to undermine their contributions by giving full credit to the NEO core. A lot of people pitched in to make these things happen.
Secondly, I’d also like to give a huge shout out to NEO News Today for its consistent and excellent coverage of all news within the NEO ecosystem. This list would not have been possible without it. For those of you who do not know, I started writing for NNT in July and joined as an editor in October. I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to work with such a kind and talented group of individuals. I have much to learn from each of them.
Without further ado, here’s the list.

That’s over 75 days of NEO events this year (and I definitely missed some). Not bad eh. Of course, this is only a list of events. We’ve also seen solid progress on the core infrastructure, the formation of multiple new dev communities, and various impressive projects joining the network.
This is the reality of what progress towards decentralization looks like. The NEO community outreach has gone far above and beyond what any other blockchain project has achieved (to my knowledge). Sure, there’s value to a pile of partnerships, but do not mistake those partnerships for realistic progression towards the future of blockchain. The goal of blockchain is to put power back into the hands of the people and to hand off control of these platforms to their respective communities. It seems no project is prioritizing this on the same level as NEO.
At this point, it feels like it wouldn’t particularly matter what happens in China. The NEO team and broader community have spent vast amounts of time and resources educating developers about NEO. Progress on this platform is not tied to the core team. That is the heart of decentralization, and it is why NEO will not be easily stopped.

News by Coingeek: Press Releases
Bitcoin Association has named Jerry David Chan one of its new managers in Asia. Most recently, Jerry spearheaded blockchain strategic initiatives at SBI Group, the financial technology conglomerate in Japan, and served as General Manager and Chief of Digital Asset Solutions. Based in Tokyo, his portfolio covers growth of Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV) throughout Japan and South Korea — two key markets for the Bitcoin industry. Jerry will also devote time to Singapore and Malaysia. His work will highlight the unique capabilities of the Bitcoin SV blockchain to developers, enterprises, miners, venture investors, and Bitcoin users.
Bitcoin Association is the global industry organization for the business of Bitcoin. It supports BSV as the only coin with a blockchain that significantly scales (now), has robust utility (now), and is committed to a set-in-stone protocol for developers to build on. BSV is also the only project that adheres to the original design of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto. In short, BSV isBitcoin.
Much like Bitcoin’s design leverages insight into many disciplines, Jerry brings comprehensive skillsets to the BSV’s ecosystem. Jerry is a 14-year veteran of Wall Street technology; before his tenure at SBI Group, he worked in New York and Tokyo at the technology departments of Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan FICC. Jerry’s experience bridges technology, economics, and how Bitcoin and blockchain innovations can be applied to real world business applications. He is a well-known Bitcoin thought leader, being a frequent and well-respected speaker and writer on Bitcoin and blockchain topics. Jerry is a graduate of the University of Waterloo in Canada, with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Jerry’s hire is another step in the global expansion of Bitcoin Association. Last week, the organization named Lise Li (former COO of Rawpool, a Bitcoin mining pool based in China) as its new China Manager.
Jimmy Nguyen, Founding President of Bitcoin Association, commented: “BSV is the ideal blockchain for enterprise applications, and Jerry is the ideal leader for BSV’s business growth in Japan and other key Asian countries. He knows what big corporates need, and can help organizations understand technically how to build BSV blockchain applications to solve those needs. Jerry is one of the most impressive and well-reasoned professionals working in Bitcoin, and enthusiastically supports the Satoshi Vision. I am thrilled to welcome him to the Bitcoin Association family.”
Jerry remarked: “As a long time fintech professional and Bitcoin enthusiast, I have always believed in the Satoshi Vision with its potential applications and exciting new developments that could benefit all aspects of society. After years of being disappointed as Bitcoin failed to scale, I’m excited to see BSV finally fulfil Bitcoin’s destiny to become the global enterprise blockchain. Bitcoin is my passion, and I thank Bitcoin Association for this opportunity to dedicate my full time to support BSV — what Bitcoin was always born to be.”
UPCOMING: COINGEEK SEOUL CONFERENCE — October 1–2
Come to Seoul, South Korea to learn about “The Power of BSV Scaling” and Bitcoin SV’s massively-scaled blockchain enables businesses to build more powerful applications. Join the top names in Bitcoin at the CoinGeek Seoulconference October 1–2.

Bitcoin Cash Fund - Monthly Report 02.02.18

Bitcoin Cash Fund - Monthly Report 02.02.18

At the end of every month I will be writing an update on the Bitcoin Cash Fund to keep everyone up-to-date on what has been going on. This will include Active Projects, Complete Projects, Bitcoin Cash Meetups, Skills Sought, and BCF Organisation updates.

If you don't know what the BCF (Bitcoin Cash Fund) is go check out our website at thebitcoincash.fund or come and talk to us in our community chat at chat.thebitcoincash.fund.

ACTIVE PROJECTS

Bitcoin Cash Treasure Hunt
What's more exciting than a little treasure hunt? The Bitcoin Cash treasure hunt initiative is underway as we speak. Members of the community will be able to design a unique paper wallet for the worldwide scavenger hunt. The wallet will have instructions designed to give beginners some background information about Bitcoin Cash, and a link to "https://findbitcoin.cash," which will have instructions on how they can claim their funds. The site will serve a multitude of purposes.
Firstly, it will host a map, where community members can hide wallets and provide geo-mapped clues as to where they are.
Secondly, a resource for beginners to learn some basics of Bitcoin Cash. Lastly, it will provide links to resources in the community to expand their knowledge about the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem! We anticipate the site to be up and running in full functionality by the time next weeks update comes out.
This project is expected to launch next week.

SeatacBCH
The goal of the SeatacBCH project is to prepare, deploy, and build a ground-based grassroots movement in the Seatac area of the U.S.A. to promote the acceptance of Bitcoin Cash at local businesses.
The project is just waiting on the completion of a new POS service.

BarberAd
George and his son, Andy are at the barbershop, when George suddenly remembers he left his wallet at home. Luckily, Andy has some Bitcoin Cash and sends his dad some. George then tips his barber, and pays for both their haircuts. There will also be humorous elements within the script. 2 different edits - One 30 second, and a 1:30 edit.
The ad is now complete except for the few CG elements. Once these are complete the promotional video will be released.

BCHTuts (Bitcoin Cash Tutorials)
A series of 10 tutorials covering tools in the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem. Each will come as text and video. People who enjoy going at their own pace can read the written form and people who want to kick back can watch the video. Tutorials will be published on Yours.org and have a YouTube video embedded.
This project is in progress.

BitcoinCashJS?
Since Bitcoin Cash's launch in August, there is an ever-increasing need for a BCH-specific JavaScript development library. Currently, all businesses providing a service via a web interface that wish to support Bitcoin Cash or handle Bitcoin Cash transactions are forced to fork one of the existing Bitcoin libraries and apply the necessary changes to make the code BCH-compatible. This is a very error prone process, and increases friction for the development of new applications in the ecosystem.
BitcoinCash.js will be the first JavaScript development library which is 100% BCH-compatible out of the box, and will remain up-to-date with all future Bitcoin Cash upgrades, such as the upcoming new address format to be released in January. This will streamline the creation of new interesting user applications, reduce the surface for errors, and help push Bitcoin Cash into global adoption

Business Onboarding Info Pack
A project to put together an info pack to get businesses started with Bitcoin Cash. The current plan is to include a pamphlet, some Bitcoin Cash Accepted Here" stickers, some leaflets aimed at users for the business to have available at the point-of-sale, and a paper wallet with small amount of Bitcoin Cash to play with. These packs will then be provided at meetups, events and anyone who needs them for onboarding businesses.
The information pamphlet is complete and on order. The stickers are complete and on order. We now have the ability to use custom designs on cashaddress.org. We are now in the process of creating the leaflet for users. There was a hold up on this while we looked for a graphic designer.

BCH Netherlands Mini-Conference
A one day conference in Amsterdam. During this conference we will discuss Bitcoin Cash from a social, technical and commercial point of view. Speakers from companies such as BTC.COM, Lokad and the Bitcoin Cash Fund will give you a unique perspective of what is going on with the Bitcoin Cash crypto currency. The event will be held on the roof of the TQ building (TQ Club) in the heart of Amsterdam.
Interesting Talks by industry leaders including: - Remy - Introduction + Bitcoin Cash changes lives in Venezuela - Alejandro DeLaTorre (BTC.com) - What we need to do to make Bitcoin Cash successful - Justin Bons (Cyber Capital) - Bitcoin Cash; A store of value and the importance of it being a functional currency - Tobias Hoffmann (BTC.com) - A fork in the road: differences between Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash - Joannes Vermorel (Lokad) - The scalability challenges of Bitcoin Cash - Paul Wasensteiner (The Bitcoin Cash Fund) - The BCF and the Path to a Billion Users

High Quality Bitcoin Cash Ad
The concept is to create a high-quality Bitcoin Cash ad that is accessible to the masses and that we can use to heavily advertise Bitcoin Cash in video form (e.g. on youtube, vimeo, and social media). The ad would be similar in nature to this ad by Coca Cola. It would show people all around the world using Bitcoin Cash (and having a great life) in their every day lives.
The tagline would be 'Bitcoin Cash - For everyone'. The idea is to show that Bitcoin Cash is a currency that is accessible to save and spend and receive by anyone and everyone in the world, and that by doing so people gain access to the global economy.

Bitcoin Cash Documentary
A project to be produced simultaneously as the ad to maximise fund use.
The documentary would target two key concepts:
There would be a short motion graphic section in the documentary to explain the technical side of why/how Bitcoin Cash exists (e.g. block size, forks, on-chain scaling). This informational motion graphics section would also be suitable as a stand-alone video that can be used on social media to explain the situation.
We are now actively looking for people around the world who use Bitcoin Cash, and the ability to use it impact their lives. If this is you, or you know someone like this, please get in touch.

Project 1B
This project is a grand scheme to work towards on-boarding 1 billion people onto the Bitcoin Cash economy in developing countries.
The concept is to manufacture and sell $5 feature phones in large quantities in various developing countries, and have these devices partly subsidised by various parties including charities and mobile networks. These phones would have a simple user and merchant Bitcoin Cash app pre-installed and would be loaded with a few dollars worth of Bitcoin Cash. For example, the phone cost = $5 and the phone has $4 of Bitcoin Cash on it.
The apps will work with very low resources in a similar way to the wallets at yours.org.

Super Secret Website Project
We have a big website project we are working on internally (Not the BCF website). We will have some big updates on this over the coming month.

We are currently in the process of setting up many more exciting projects!

COMPLETE PROJECTS

TxHighway
Visualize the difference in speed and scalability by comparing Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Core's transactions using our highway themed blockchain visualizer. Unlock a bonus sprite with each donation back to the Bitcoin Cash Fund and monitor your address.
This project executed with massive success! Soon we hope to be working with the amazing team that built this site to produce a new educational tool.

What Is Bitcoin Cash?
This is an internal BCF project to produce a video similar to the What is Bitcoin? video, but remade for Bitcoin Cash. The voiceover for the video is the amazing Kevan Brighting who did the voiceover for the award winning game Stanley Parable. The video will be roughly 1:30 minutes long and should be completed within 2-3 weeks.
Work has started on the translations to Chinese, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, and French. This should take another week or so.

Bitcoin Cash Sound Branding
Internal BCF project to produce a branded sound for Bitcoin Cash payments. This sound would be used industry wide in apps when a bitcoin cash payment is sent or received. This sound would also be used in promotional video material to reinforce the brand. This sound would have a similar psychological effect as the macbook powering-on sound.
This is now complete and can be heard at the end of the new 'What is Bitcoin Cash?' video.
Please reach out to all the wallets that use Bitcoin Cash and show your support for the BCH sound branding.

Global Bitcoin Cash Meetups
There is now a total of at least 34 Bitcoin Cash

The BCF will be sponsoring all these meetups and providing support to the organisers. It is amazing to see how rapidly they are popping up all over the globe!
If you live in a major city and would like to start hosting Bitcoin Cash meetups, get in contact with us. Reach out to our official twitter account dedicated to coordinating with meetups @BCFmeetups!

Encryption is No Longer an Option - Ways to Restore Your Natural Right to Privacy

Encryption is No Longer an Option
“If the State’s going to move against you, it’s going to move against you. Now, that doesn’t mean you need to be reckless of course. I’m awful careful you guys, and even my degree of care and control ultimately won’t be enough if they get mad enough. There will always be something…I’ve done what I hope is the best any man can do. So…I hope when they finally do get me, it’s obvious that they just made it up. I don’t go out of my way to make it easy.” – Cody Wilson
For all Anarchists our love for freedom unites us and guides us. I recently had a conversation with a mutual friend that Cody and I have in common and he stated something very insightful:
CryptoAnarchy is like the Lord of the Rings. You have to cooperate with people that you don’t know where they are or what they’re up to. That is, you just know that we are all figuring out at the same time on how to take down Sauron.
Anarchy is guided by the natural instinct for self-preservation. You can trust that others are also actively working in keeping us all free.
For us all to move into more synergistic cooperation we need more motivation. Nothing is more motivating than our movement away from an impending harmful evil. The persecution that Cody Wilson has gone through since he started his activism is testament to the evil that awaits the entire world if we do not fight against the impending digital global prison. Just note how easy it was to find Cody. Government indoctrinated brownshirts and surveillance are everywhere.
As Jeff recently said in London, “CryptoAnarchy is about the cryptography.” Cryptocurrency is only possible due to the privacy offered by cryptography. A true cryptocurrency is completely fungible, anonymous, and private. Blockchains without on-chain privacy set by default, are dangerous and offer nothing other than accurate surveillance.
That is, the moment you destroy a coin’s fungibility you corrupt its incentive structure. This is because you would then have two classes of the same coin within a transparent blockchain; these are coins that are “tainted” or “untainted” according to government. This differentiation created by blockchain surveillance leads “tainted” coins to be priced differently from “untainted” coins. Once this happens you destroy the functionality of a currency as a medium of exchange.
Imagine the headache of retailers in having to tell clients that they only accept “untainted” bitcoins. The result of not having a fungible medium of exchange is that you destroy the incentive structure of the network effect of a coin. You simply end up with a useless and unwanted network where value is supposed to be exchanged. If the units within the medium of exchange do not themselves contain the same value in the market, the utility of the network effect is destroyed.
The economic ramifications of non-fungible SurveillanceCoins are so bad that they make fiat currencies of central banks look good. In spite of their centralized proof of government violence, fiat currencies are more fungible and private than a coin based on a transparent blockchain.
For much time within crypto we would call the majority of blockchains as “pseudo-anonymous” because we knew the importance of fungibility. At that time blockchain analysis had not caught up to our technology. Now companies like Elliptic and Chainalysis have made the vast majority of blockchains in the market transparent.
Sadly, most blockchain communities have not upgraded their privacy to be on chain by default- making them transparent. However, some more intelligent communities- like Monero- are at the same time growing because they understand the importance of fungibility.
Please understand that we at TDV are ahead of the pack in understanding where all of this is going. The vast majority of people won’t tell you these harsh truths about the Blockchain space, but it is our moral imperative to inform you as best as possible.
As time goes on, we will continue to champion actual fungible CryptoCurrencies and we will continue to make clear distinctions between a SurveillanceCoin and an actual CryptoCurrency.
It is important that we take a step back from CryptoCurrencies and focus on just cryptography. You can never be too careful. Throughout our groups we have had various requests as to how to better use different wallets.
Yes, we will cover all of that in our upcoming surprise for our community, but what is most important is that you protect yourself at the network layer, your identity, and your communication.
CryptoAnarchy began way before Bitcoin. If you want to know what will be happening to CryptoCurrencies and CryptoAnarchy in the near future, you need to read Timothy C. May’s 1992 prophetic Crypto Anarchist Manifesto.
On reading this, you cannot afford to be idle regarding your privacy. This is not the time for you to easily give up what is most personal about you; your thoughts and identity. Your privacy is sacred. You need to protect your privacy as much as possible at all times. Don’t give into the defeatist notions of future technology being capable of deanonymizing any cryptography you currently use. Your goal is to be private right now in the present moment.
You are up against a global digital tyranny- that is already here!
...Cazes was not a US citizen and the Alphabay servers and Cazes were not caught on US soil. Just because crimes involving narcotic deals took place in America, weirdly enough, the US seemingly has the right above anyone to seize Cazes’ property, and charge him and his accomplices in US trials...
Use Secure Hardware That Protects You
Be paranoid. Stay paranoid. The more paranoid you are the better. Currently the five eyes are moving to strip away all of your privacy. They are on the direct path to force all companies to hand over back doors to software and hardware encryption.
This is a new breach on individual rights. The backdoors in hardware have existed since the 90’s via Trusted Computing and Digital Rights Management (DRM). The difference is that now companies will be fined and forced by governments (all governments) to open up backdoors for the surveillance of all- in both software and hardware. Australia is leading the charge since they are the only ones within the five eyes without a Bill of Rights.
If you really want to be secure, then you need to start with your hardware. Almost all laptops and hardware chips are engineered with unsafe software. These chips can transmit voice, your networking, pictures, and even video signals. Many of these chips are used to install spyware, malware and viruses.
The market has provided us with two easy plug-and-play hardware solutions.
Purism is a CryptoAnarchist company dedicated in offering us the safest computers in the market. Purism’s line of Librem Laptops is manufactured with software and hardware built from the ground up, where you can be at ease knowing there are no back doors built within it. They work with hardware component suppliers and the Free software community in making hardware that respects and protects your security. Every chip is individually selected with emphasis on respecting freedom. (Purism Librem laptops have built in Kill-Switches for your microphone/camera and wireless/Bluetooth)
All of the necessary components that you would have to bundle up together- by yourself- from a community vetted place like Prism-Break are already installed and ready to go within Librem laptops. Even if you were to install all of the necessary open-source encrypted alternatives, you still would not be able to 100% trust your current computer’s hardware.
Purism Librem laptops come with their own PureOS (operating system). Purism also offers compatibility with Qubes OS in a flash-drive (similar to Tails) to give you even another layer of protection on top of PureOS. Qubes OS is what Edward Snowden uses. PureOs is a derivative of Debian GNU/Linux. Qubes is free and open-source software (FOSS).
Purism is currently having a pre-sale for their first phone the Librem 5.
Another popular safe hardware computer market alternative is ORWL. ORWL is a desktop PC. ORWL comes with a physical encryption key that looks like a keychain. If anyone ever tries to physically tamper with the ORWL computer, sensors will automatically detect the intrusion and erase everything. ORWL comes with the operating system options of Qubes OS, Ubuntu, or Windows.
ORWL does not receive payment for their products in Crypto. Purism on the other hand accepts payment in BitcoinCore, BitcoinCash, Litecoin, Ethereum, Decred, Dogecoin, and Monero.
ORWL is a good alternative for more computer savvy people. If you are not the most competent person with computers, Purism is the way to go. With Purism everything is ready to go.
Once you get good hardware don’t use this new computer for anything other than crypto stuff. That is, don’t use it with anything that requires your slave identity. Don’t access social media with your name, don’t access bank accounts, don’t access crypto exchanges, don’t access old email accounts, definitely don’t access anything that requires KYC and AML, and don’t access any identifying log-in that is related to any of your previous internet identities. Create new identities from scratch for this new computer.
Watch this video and learn about the basics on operational security (OPSEC). Take everything written here, and spoken at the conference in the video above, as barely the preliminary basic requirements of OPSEC. You should definitely continue your own research upon getting your new secure hardware computer.
(It would be best if you purchased this computer using crypto- Monero preferably- and have it mailed to a mailing address not associated with any of your addresses; think along the lines of JJ Luna).
Encrypt Your Communication
“This generation being born now... is the last free generation. You are born and either immediately or within say a year you are known globally. Your identity in one form or another –coming as a result of your idiotic parents plastering your name and photos all over Facebook or as a result of insurance applications or passport applications– is known to all major world powers.” – Julian Assange
The vast majority of our community uses Facebook. Unfortunately its network effect is something we all rely on to some degree. Fortunately for us a friend of our community created FaceMask. Through FaceMask we can still use Facebook in complete privacy- away from Zuckerberg's prying eyes. In the near future we will implement FaceMask into our TDV groups as optional privacy for our posts. We will provide our subscribers with the keys necessary to encrypt and decrypt the messages and posts. Again, this is optional. For now please go to the link above and familiarize yourself with Facemask and its technology.
Don’t use Google. If you are using Google start transitioning out of it. If you are using Gmail, start moving towards encrypted services like ProtonMail or TutaNota. They both offer a free option, try them both out and choose your favorite. Use two factor authentication on everything that requires you to log-in that allows for the use of two factor authentication. Most people use Google Authenticator and Authy. I personally prefer the open source options of FreeOTP & andOTP. Use the one that you find best suited for you. Using one is paramount for security nowadays.
If you are one that uses Google Docs with your team, move instead to CryptPad. The more you use CryptPad the more addicting it becomes; your collaborated work is encrypted and private. You no longer will have to worry about knowing that Google is capturing all of your collaborated work. You can also start using CryptPad for free.
If you are using Skype for conference calls, switch to Jitsi. Jitsi is even easier to use than Skype. If you use their MeetJitsi feature you can just access the encrypted conferencing via any browser by agreeing with your other party on the same predetermined passphrase.
Don’t use regular text messaging. Rather, use Signal, Wickr, Keybase, or Telegram.
Use a VPN
A VPN (virtual private network) encrypts all of your traffic via a private network of servers scattered throughout the world. This process anonymizes your IP address. Make sure you don’t use your identity when using a VPN- that would just give away your identity as being connected with the VPN servers you are using.
Many VPN providers register your activity and can hand it over to government if they so demand it. They break their promises to their clients all the time. Let’s minimize risk by staying away from the most draconian of jurisdictions.
To lessen this issue, do not ever use a VPN that is based out of any of the 5 eyes:
-United Kingdom
-United States
-Australia
-Canada
-New Zealand
Furthermore, avoid VPNs based out of the following nine countries, that combined with the first 5 make up the 14 eyes:
-Denmark
-France
-The Netherlands
-Norway
-Germany
-Belgium
-Italy
-Spain
-Sweden
No VPN is a complete safeguard. In spite of this, it is still best to use one. We recommend you ONLY use it (turn it on) when doing crypto-related things and only crypto-related things on your regular computer. For your new encrypted hardware computer have it on at all times. If you use it to access an actual bank account, or another personal account (including crypto accounts that require your personal information; read coinbase, or any other exchange) — then, again, the use of the VPN use becomes trite.
Here are six VPN options outside of the 14 eyes that we recommend you research further and use at your own discretion:
NordVPN (Panama)
CyberGhost (Romania)
HideMe (Malaysia)
Astrill (Seychelles)
TrustZone (Seychelles)
iVPN (Gibralter)
Like all things in the market now, some VPNs take Crypto as payment—others do not. It is best if you bought your VPN with crypto not not your credit card, debit card, or paypal.
TOR (The Onion Router)
The Onion Router is software that you use as a browser. It protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network- throughout the world- of relays runned by volunteers. This prevents evesdroppers from learning your IP address, spying on you, and disclosing your physical location. TOR also allows you to access sites that are blocked.
You can use TOR and a VPN simultaneously. If you are new to all of this, it is best that you just learn how to use the features of your new computer coupled with your preferred VPN. The use of TOR is a little more complicated and you will have to configure it according the specifications of your preferred VPN. As you begin this process, as long as you are using your VPN correctly you should be fine.
Fincen and crypto-exchanges
ShapeShift is now stuck having to require its users to deanonymize their transactions in order to meet KYC and AML requirements; it pretty clear that they got ShapeShift under the Bank Secrecy Act. Stay away from Shapeshift (sorry @erikvorhees).
“Very disappointed that @ShapeShift_io is implementing KYC. Just goes to show that any centralized entity will be pushed in that direction, which is why LN, atomic swaps and Decentralized Exchanges are the only way to resist a surveillance economics.” - Andreas Antonopoulos
As the news of ShapeShift broke out, the market was quick to answer with alternatives. Among the private centric alternatives to ShapeShift we find Godex, ChangeHero, XMR.TO, and Bisq.
ChangeHero and Godex are pretty much the same business concept as ShapeShift. The only difference is that they do not require you to become transparent. XMR.TO allows you to make BTC payments by using Monero.
That is, by using Monero together with XMR.TO you can pay any BTC address in the world while protecting your privacy.
Bisq is the Best Option
The most important to focus on is Bisq. Bisq is a complete decentralized exchange. Bisq is instantly accessible- there is no need for registration or approval from a central authority. The system is decentralized peer-to-peer and trading cannot be stopped or censored.
Bisq is safe. Unlike MtGox and the rest of centralized exchanges, Bisq never holds your funds. Bisq provides a system of decentralized arbitration with security deposits that protect traders. The privacy is set where no one except trading partners exchange personal identifying information. All personal data is stored locally.
All communication on Bisq is end-to-end encrypted routed over Tor. Upon downloading and running Bisq TOR runs on Bisq automatically. Every aspect of the development of Bisq is open source.
Bisq is easy to use. If you are accustomed to centralized exchanges, you might find Bisq a little different. If you want anonymity and privacy, this is the best crypto exchange we have. Tell your friends about Bisq. Just download Bisq and take it for a test drive, you will feel fresh freedom of entering into peaceful voluntary exchange with your fellow man. Do it, it’s good for the soul.
On Cody
I would like to personally thank all of our subscribers for generously donating to Defense Distributed on our last issue. At the moment of us putting out our last newsletter, DefDist had raised less than 100k USD. After our Newsletter got out, his donations went past 300k USD.
Thank you very much for helping out our friends in their continual fight for freedom!
Please pray for Cody, his friends, and his family.
I once asked Cody what his background was- because idk his mannerisms have always been interesting to me. He answered; “I am Romani- I am a Gypsy.”
Thank you for helping out our Gypsy friend and his band of rebels! They will very much be using your generous donations now that things got much more serious.
If you haven’t donated, please consider donating. Blessings!
